Final Fantasy XIV Releases Patch 1.9

This is one of the biggest patches in the history of Final Fantasy XIV. In my opinion the biggest change is the addition of a Tutorial for new players. As of last night I was re-installing the game and patching it. My character there will be deleted and I will start from scratch because I want to see how good these tutorials are. According to their blog this is the highlight:
Chocobos make travelling across the fields much quicker and will prevent you from encountering enemies. You can rent chocobos for one-off trips or get your own personal feathered friend which you can then name and summon at any time.
Airships allow even faster travel between Eorzea’s cities.
That looks like a great addition but it will not beat the tutorials unless they are atrocious. Check out the complete list of these changes but be warned, they are huge. But let’s move forward and remember that SquareEnix eliminated the monthly fee of this game until they regain their player’s trust. The changes brought by the new director have been quite refreshing and definitely warrant another try.
