Bounty Hunter and A Prophet
I know it’s a chick flick, but I was kinda looking forward to The Bounty Hunter. I like Gerard Butler (300 of course) and Jennifer Aniston is decent (uhh…Office Space!). The story seemed like it had potential, a guy chasing down his ex who is running from the law. It looked like a entertaining girlie movie that I would end up being “dragged” to. As you might have guessed without me telling you though, it sucked.
The writing was bad, the story was lame, and there wasn’t really any chemistry between Butler and Aniston. Giving it the chick-flick-benefit-of-the-doubt I would say it is watchable. Its not that bad. I guess I was just expecting a bit more, like when Butler was in The Ugly Truth, now that was a good chick flick… I watch these movies for the ladies, remember that!
On the other side of the spectrum, the one with crappy movies on one side and exceptional films on the other, I got a chance to see the French prison drama A Prophet. In very limited
release, it was nominated for Best Foreign picture at the Oscars this year (I haven’t seen the movie that actual won but it has to be really good to have beaten this movie).
The story is about a man’s six-year prison sentence, beginning all alone and then his rise through a powerful gang inside and outside the prison. The acting is great, the story is great, the music is great and some of the scenes are just intense. It has a very realistic feel and is just an overall excellent film. Its playing in select cities and if you have a chance to watch it you really should. Check out the trailer below!

Yea.. I am sure you do… they twist your arm.
