J. Cameron’s Avatar Review

EnglishGentleman wrote an Avatar review in his blog that I would like to share over here.

“In Avatar we follow the story of ex-marine Jake Sully, wheelchair bound because of injuries suffered while in the line of duty. The movie opens and we learn that Jake’s scientist twin brother has passed away, and because he shares the same DNA as his brother Jake is asked to take over his position as “Avatar Pilot” on the moon planet of Pandora. Pandora is known as “one of the most hostile regions on the planet” and as the badass Colonel played by Cristopher Lang puts it “there isn’t a thing that walks, talks, or crawls on Pandora that doesn’t want to kill you”. The human’s have set up camp in Pandora to mine a prescious mineral native to the planet known as “unobtanium”. Unfortunately a tribe of the indeginous species known as the Na’vi are sitting atop the richest deposit on Pandora. Because the humans cannot breathe the toxic air they create controllable Na’vi known as Avatars to try and persuade these 10 foot tall nature lovers to move else where.

Not since the Lord of the Rings trilogy has a writer created such an immense and immersive world as Pandora. If I were to describe the setting of this movie in one word, it would be epic. In fact, I would use the word epic to describe this whole movie. There is not one minute that doesn’t show evidence of the maticulous hard work and creativity Cameron and his crew are known for.”
