Blizzard, Account Security And You

I like to think my computer is safe from viruses, keyloggers and other pesky security threats. I was in for a rude awakening.

It seems I was wrong and clueless.  Everything was fine until I decided to merge my account over to Battlenet and get my penguin pet.  Two days after that I received an email that my password was reset.  A minute after, a Blizzard email was in my Inbox letting me know that my account was hacked and in order to prevent any problems they were issuing a 24 hour suspension on my account.

After reading the emails and making sure it was from Blizzard, I did an in depth scan of my computer.  According to my scan, the hard drive was clean.  I felt relieved that my account was safe and appreciated Blizzard’s effort in keeping my account safe.  Get your Steam account hacked and see how hard it is to get it back.

Everything was all good, I did my casual thing; grinding honor from time to time and logging out.  To my surprise the same shit happened, another password reset and 1 minute after, a Blizzard email with a 24 hour suspension.  I replied to Blizzard and the next day I received an email letting me know that an account specialist was going to take a look and see what was going on.  I was very annoyed by the whole ordeal but I felt good in how Blizzard was handling my case.  They were fast, professional and very understanding.

Just a heads up, sometimes while browsing WarcraftMovies or CurseGaming I get a warning from Chrome letting me know that the website is not safe.  Could it be that’s how my account got stolen?
