Studio Ghibli’s First Game: Ni No Kuni

Studio Ghibli, the Japanese animation film studio that brought us movies like Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and recently Ponyo, will develop alongside Level 5 a new RPG for the Nintendo DS called Ni no Kuni: The Other World.  In the game, players will take the role of a boy with a magic book that has the ability to let the hero travel to a parallel world.

I will assume that Hayao Miyazaki is involved  somehow in the project, the game trailer has that unique “Miyazaki” feeling; the visuals are gorgeous and the music is just as good.  The game has no US release date and we can only hope it can find it’s way here sooner rather than later.  I could ramble endlessly about Miyazaki’s work, and how I think we need more innovators like him in the movie and game industry but I will leave that for another time, enjoy the videos.
